Our first two Scottish child protection training courses, An Introduction to Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) and Level 2 Child Abuse and Neglect, are the first national child protection courses produced especially for the Scottish Children's Workforce. These courses have been designed to fully reflect current Scottish best practice, guidance and legislation.
Getting it Right for Every Child
This bite size course explains the Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) model which is the new national approach in Scotland for those supporting and working with children and young people. It affects all services for children and adults where children are involved and therefore is relevant for all children and adult services staff.
This is an essential learning package for practitioners and other members of the children’s workforce who wish to understand the philosophy behind this important new model of child protection and how to apply it in practice.

This course is designed for anyone who works with children, young people and their families. The course aims to raise awareness of the issues affecting the children of problem substance users. It helps the learner to spot the signs of harm and identify appropriate windows of opportunity to break the cycle and safeguard the child.

It is vital that all children receive the same care and safeguards with regards to abuse and neglect, regardless of their background.
As a result, this e-learning module has been developed to help practitioners working with children, young people and their families to be culturally aware during the course of their work and involvement.
On completion, learners will have an increased understanding of the four types of abuse which stem from culture-related traditions, rituals and beliefs. It will also provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to feel confident in dealing with people from differing cultures.
